There are around 625 subway stations in Seoul and ever since with the opening of Line 1 in 1974, the fundamental design of the metro map has been maintained (square) which makes it difficult to understand.In 2023, Seoul re-designed the Seoul Metro map for better visual recognition. Newly introduced round diagram centers from Line 2 loop. Line 2 is the circular line that operates through the center of Seoul and it is the most busiest line from the entire metro lines in Seoul (tip: recommend to consider booking your hotels around line 2).

Popular transportation app in Korea
Kakao and Naver are leading internet conglomerates in Korea and they both offer intuitive and accurate maps. Naver is popular with its map and its accuracy to navigate your location to the destination made Naver Map as a standard map to many Koreans. But many people also download and use Kakao metro, Kakao bus, Kakao taxi as well because it is more intuitive.
Subway Fares in Seoul
The fares will vary based on the age and the travel distance. Fares will get expensive from 10km on the train but it is still very cheap that KRW 100 (around $0.07) is additionally charged for every 5km.
To use transportation in Korea, possessing a T-Card is very convenient. Tourists can purchase a T-Card at the airport, convenience stores and major subway stations and charge the T-Card using the vending machine at the station as well.
The tourists can also buy a single ride pass in all subway stations (+ security deposit of KRW 500 is added and it will be returned at the ticket vending machine after the card has been used).
