Seoul launches unlimited transportation card for travelers 


Climate Card Tourist Pass for Seoul 

Seoul Metropolitan Government (SMO) launched a "climate card" for local residents in January 2024 which offers unlimited travel on bus, train and public bike (따릉이 "TTAREUNGI") for 65,000 KRW ($47) / month. 


SMO extended the service and launched a "climate card tourist pass" for international travelers and short-stay local visitors to Seoul. 


The climate card tourist pass is available from July 2024, and here are the key info!

❍ Prices 

1 day pass - 5,000 KRW ($4)

2 day pass - 8,000 KRW ($6) 

3 day pass - 10,000 KRW ($7.5)

5 day pass - 15,000 KRW ($11) 

7 day pass - 20,000 KRW ($15) 

Tourists can enjoy unlimited public transportation during the selected period. But current tourist pass can only be used in Seoul and this card does not offer the use of public bike (따릉이 "TTAREUNGI") but only covers bus and train. 


❍ Where can I buy the climate card?   

- Tourist Information Center in Seoul Tourist Plaza (@Cheonggyecheon-ro, Jongno-gu) 
- Myeongdong Tourist Information Center (@ 66 Eulji-ro, Jung-gu) 
- Customer Safety Center in subway stations (on line 1~8) 
- Convenience stores near subway stations 


❍ Things to note 

- The climate card will be immediately activated on the day of charging, which means travelers cannot choose the start and end dates. Therefore, carefully plan and buy the pass and this climate card will be beneficial if travelers plan to use the bus and train more than 3 times a day (approx. one way ticket for bus and train is around 1,400 KRW ( $1)). 

- Tourists can get 50% discounts to the Seoul Science Center and Seoul Grand Park. The discount offer could be may vary from time to time of visit. The admissions to Lotte world's aquarium and seoulsky could also receive discounts with climate card. Therefore I recommend tourists to ask at the ticket booth if they can get admission discounts with climate card tourist pass especially at the popular tourist attractions.
